My willpower is definitely lacking during that time since I’m worn out from work. I do eat a full, healthy dinner at a normal time during work. I am generally asleep by 11:30 pm or midnight.
I don't know what time you're having dinner or what time you get home; but you should try to avoid eating at least two hours prior to going to bed.
If you really want/need something when you get home because you're hungry/thirsty - not because it's habit - then start by making sure you have a healthy snack with protein. Or try drinking a glass of water. Or have some hot chocolate made with high protein milk.
Maybe have some nuts on your ride home so you're not hungry when you get home. then immediately get ready for bed once you're home. At least that puts your snack earlier in the evening.
Finally, try getting to bed by 11:00 rather than 11:30 or midnight.
