Every high school should have a VVA liaison (usually a guidance counselor) - contact the school and ask who the liaison is and what the procedure is for registering a student in a summer VVA course. That would be the student's "mentor" for the summer.
The mentors don't actually do anything - they are copied on a bunch of emails throughout the summer course, but they don't have any real mentoring responsibility other than to ensure the student completes the course and then receive the final course results from VVA to be recorded on the student's transcript.
This isn't true. Just as an FYI, VVa allows parents to enroll students during the summer as homeschool student. The parent acts as the 'mentor' and a 'counselor' during that time.
