Anybody know what the schedule and location for the regionals meet will be? Patriot/National district in particular. We haven't gotten details from our coach yet, and it's my kid's first year so I don't know what 'normal' is. Just trying to plan our weekend around it... TIA!

I'm the PP that kid got shut out of regionals a few times, not all, but each year there was an event where she would have been like 2nd in the National district, but didn't get to swim regionals. that stings. I realize she could have gotten the cut time for regionals. But when a you swim over 10 seconds faster than people making regionals it stings.

Ok - but there are regional cut times to help with this type of situation.

My kid is in National and made her cut times. But even so, the kids in Patriot are fast.

Again, ok. No one’s saying Patriot district isn’t fast.

The comment was trying to address the PP who was complaining that the Patriot district was so fast that their swimmer didn’t make regionals 4 years in row. My comment was only to say that the rules try to accommodate for those situations by having cut times. That’s all.

If the swimmers’s time was so fast, hopefully they were still able to complete in regionals via a time cut.

New poster…

My kid has state cuts (and has in the past), but every year kids that swim for let’s say West Springfield or Falls Church, they can make even states with very slow times compared to the kids in the regionals. It’s not really fair. Same for regionals. We have seen kids who wouldn’t even be 16th at our district become top 3 at regionals.

West Springfield is in the Patriot District?

Um. Are you serious? Most falls church hs swimmers get killed at regionals (patriot district swimmers are in the same occoquan reguonals). There have been a few really good FC swimmers but these swimmers got state cuts and/or placed high at regionals. Look at any of the top 5 times. They are respectable.

To answer OP's original question. What we're talking about here are Class 6 schools, so the biggest public high schools in the state. Most of our local public high schools are in Class 6. (Meridian in Falls Church is one exception.)

There are plenty of other high schools from around the state that will swim at Class 6 states, not just Patriot and Northern. They tend to be from the Richmond area and the Norfolk-Virginia Beach area.

So Patriot was on meet mobile but they pulled it for some reason. They posted Patriot on PVS but National is not up there. I don't see Liberty or Concorde either (Liberty is on Meet Mobile).

https://www.pvswim.org/hsresults.html

They will all be added to Swimcloud I was told by data.

There are 2 paths for regionals and states. Either you place high enough or you make the cut.

So regionals in our area are divided into two? With two districts each? Then the four districts meet up for States? Or are more districts involved?

Also, Patriot district seems incredibly fast compared to the other three...
