The University of Minnesota. Apply early like with Pitt. Automatic and generous merit. Honors college with no separate application. Located in Minneapolis, a blue city in a blue state, near a major airport, a hospital, and the city’s LGBTQ neighborhood. More Asian than Wisconsin (the Twin Cities have a big Hmong population). DD with similar stats got into GW with 28k merit. not safety but could also consider BU that has honors program with merit.

U of Arizona has an excellent pre med program -- with those stats she would be guaranteed admission and probably get merit. Arizona is a red-blue tie-dye state, but the Tucson area is pretty solidly blue, and Tucson itself is very gay friendly. (If she's actually trans, I might avoid Arizona just because the state legislature is always a bit of a crap shoot....but if she's gay or bi, I think the Tucson area is totally fine.)

Lord, what a list of identity terms. Just get to the point. Daughter is a lesbian who wants a high performing progressive college. Much simpler. And you have a decent starting point. Up to you to decide whether they are worth the costs over your in-state flagship.

Muhlenberg. Great merit aid, med school admissions, neurodivergence/learning support

We already have Rice, Tufts, Brown, Northwestern, U Chicago, and Wash U on the list. Obviously, it's hard to get into these places. Case Western, U Wisconsin, also on the list. Possible safety schools: Fordham and Pitt. What would be some other decent safety or even target schools? It would be great if (1) there's some kind of merit aid; and (2) near a major airport).

We live in a Red state and she doesn't like our state. I don't know if it's wise to pay $90K for some of the safeties that don't offer merit aid. GPA is 4.0; SAT is 1520; extracurriculars with focus on gender studies/public health type, community-oriented theme.

School counselor is mentioning as safeties: Skidmore and Connecticut College, but these schools do not seem particularly diverse, racially.

DD is at a girls' private so not loving as safeties: Bryn Mawr and Barnard. Oberlin is too artsy and maybe Wesleyan also too artsy.
