Our FCPS Naviance Compare Me says, "College compare averages are for students from your high school who have been accepted to that particular college from 2020-2025." It is very useful for seeing how you compare. You can also see how many students from your school applied to colleges and how many were accepted. For example, although there isn't enough data for the scattergram, I can see that over the last 5 years, 120ish students have applied to NYU, and I can see how many have been accepted. I can also see the average GPA and SAT. I can't see how many apply test-optional.

I think our Naviance is updated automatically by the school. I can see my older kids on the scattergrams, and it accurately shows where they got in and where they didn't.

There’s clarity at our FCPS school. Just ask your career center specialist. They explained it all in a meeting but you can ask. Our big FCPS school shows last year’s kids.

Pretty much. I’m in a different district. Naviance is only helpful for big schools that get A LOT of applications. You can detect trends or see what bands of students get admitted. You can uncheck the little icons at the bottom so the scattergrams only shows admitted kids to see how your student stacks up.

Overall it has not been very helpful for us - the data is not updated or it’s hidden .

Not true. The school can’t withhold a diploma for failing to complete Naviance lol.

The question is- is it accurate- and pretty much it is. When they hand out cap and gown they don’t give you one until you have done everything- turned in computers, paid bills, completed forms, etc. Are there some kids who get past that? Sure. But overall it’s mostly accurate.

My senior had to update it right before graduation- it was required, she was still deferred many places, so I assume that showed as unknown. I don't think her progress showed until the end of the year.

This was 25 grad

Seniors are asked to report their results but they aren’t required to do so.

Our family has wondered the same. Not many scores reported at our huge public high school. Yet this is supposed to be the thing that shows what to expect in terms of admissions…? Is this data from the most recent class? The year before? An average from recent years? Single data points only by self-report?

I'm sorry for the very basic questions but how does Naviance work? Does each kid have to report their outcomes for each college applied to for it to show up in Naviance? I only see 22 kids applied to NYU, for example, but surely that can't be all the kids who applied there from our school?? I can't see outcomes per year- just overall outcomes.

What am I doing wrong?
