OP here. Congratulations to those who were accepted and also those who received merit!

Funny someone should mention Notre Dame; I'm an alum and my kid has NO interest in attending ND at all. She got into better ranked schools than Fordham but Fordham is a great fit for her and we aren't going to denigrate $36k in merit/aid!

To clarify - these were what I would call regional schools. Schools similar to Fordham, SLU, St. Joes, Marquette

What a weird thing to say. Any school that gives 35K in merit is working to attract high stats students relative to their own stats. Pretty much by definition, you can always "do better" or they wouldn't have offered the student that award.


+1 Why do the ghouls on this board have to make comments like this? Perhaps this family is committed to a Jesuit education and they are chasing merit. Maybe the student is aiming for Georgetown, ND,or BC and this is just what sensible list building looks like. Either way your comments are ignorant and unwelcome on this thread.

There are so many things to consider when choosing a school: Fit (which no stranger on DCUM can judge), location, culture, programs, etc. But being wanted there is also a big thing. If they are offering a lot of money, it's because they want you there. They think you will do well there.
