If you think about it...why are homeowners even responsible for shoveling sidewalks?

We aren't allowed to build on them or touch them in any way, yet somehow we are responsible for their maintenance during the Winter.

I realize this is the societal compact we make...but in upstate NY, the city actually shovels the public sidewalks...homeowners are only responsible for the property they own.

It isn't if everyone did like me and shoveled twice on Sunday and then again Monday morning. Instead, we have a bunch of dump, lazy shitbirds who thought they'd wait until it was over.

Honestly, we should seize their properties. Evict them. They don't deserve them.

They're not enforcing anything. You can park wherever you want and the city doesn't care. Apparently our armada of parking attendants are on vacation.

We are no longer clearing the sidewalks if the snow plows keep dumping snow on the sidewalks. They don't care , why should we care.

Half my neighbors haven’t cleared their sidewalks. But all summer long they’ve got yard guys. It’s not a money shortage.

It's doable. More challenging than a regular storm, but doable.

Yes, my sidewalk is clear down to the pavement. It can be done with a little grit and garden shovel.

Doable….with the right shovel, the correct amount of strength and the time needed. Not everyone has all three.

This was an unusually heavy snow and then ice was added on top of it. And unlike our normal snows we didn’t get out of the low 20s this week so what was snow was a solid rock by Monday afternoon. Plows are still getting stuck.

It will be in the mid 30s this week and things will start to melt.

Maybe because it’s the height of hypocrisy for DC to issue those fines to residents when the city has done such an awful job of clearing the roads.

Why in the world has Bowser stopped issuing fines for not clearing sidewalks in front of a property? Because there's snow there? That law is only enforced when there's NO snow? Wth Mayor Bowser -- why?
