Get tonsils out. I had recurring infections in mine.

She likely needs IV antibiotics for a longer period. Staph infections can be difficult to treat and to find the right combo of meds. I've had patients who have needed 6 weeks of IV antibiotics due to the severity.

It might be MRSA if it’s that resistant to staph. I empathize. I just had cellulitis (bacterial infection of tissue) in my ear and it cultured and even NOT being staph, it took 3 different rounds of antibiotics to settle the infection and I still have post-infection inflammation in the cartilage. These things can be so nasty and hard to get rid of it and I can imagine the child is very stressed and frustrated about returning to the hospital but strong IV antibiotics may be the only way to really get rid of the staph if oral ones failed.

Asking for a friend. Her 8 year old daughter has just been admitted to a children’s hospital for the second time in three weeks with due to SSSS Staph infection.

The onset included white tonsils and painful skin. During her first course of treatment she received first IV antibiotics followed by oral antibiotics. After about five days in the hospital they were released to return home and complete the cycle of oral antibiotics. They have been home for a little over a week now when my friend noted the return of the white tonsils. They were just admitted again tonight.

Her daughter is absolutely distraught at having to go through the whole ordeal again. Has anyone had experience with this? Would love any feedback or suggestions. Feeling so terrible for them!!!
