The longer you wait, the more difficult it will be to shovel. The freezing temps will further cement the sleet.

We shoveled and used snow battery blower every 3 hrs for us and our 80 year old neighbor. Didn't cleant enough for car to get out drive but enough to walk to street.

No, they have been advising to shovel along the way since we are getting so much sleet which is much heavier than the snow. My husband and I (54 yo) split the shoveling - did it twice today. Morning was easier than afternoon because it was almost all snow in the morning.

Agree with the PP that heart attacks can come after activity so pay attention to how you’re feeling, OP. Hope you are fine.

It's much harder to shovel than airy flakes of nothing.

No, why would you think that? It's significantly less heavy if you shovel early.

OP, no, shoveled so it wouldn't be even heavier tomorrow. We're socked in until at least Wednesday. Our road hasn't been plowed since about 8 a.m.

I'm a lot younger but, do work now to have less difficult work later. We shoveled a few times today.

But man, I'm tired.

I'm 54M, in fairly decent shape but have been slacking a bit this winter.

First shovel was at about 9 a.m. when CBS Sunday Morning was preempted by local coverage of the snow (Hey, TV News stations -- we have WINDOWS. We know it's snowing). Had about 8-10 inches (live in Western Loudoun). It was hard work but manageable. Took me about an hour to shovel, clear off two cars, clear off steps, etc.

Then went back out at 3:30 p.m. and there was another two inches of snow plus about three inches of ice crust. Oi vey.

I'm sore.

But, hey, I didn't keel over dead. So, yay or something.

I'll feel it tomorrow, though.
