I would also suggest asking your manager/other tenured people you work with to help facilitate this for you. I was at my prior company for a number of years and knew people involved in all types of work: I was more than happy to send a quick “Hi Larla, Jimbo is new to XYZ firm and is interested in widget work, would you be willing to sit down for a quick coffee chat?”

Is this typical for your office? It is not something that happens in mine so it would seem ? Unexpected to many. It is theoretically a good way to get to know people though...

You should try to run into the people in the building. In person is easier.

np: I would just bump the email with a quick polite message nudging them. But at my workplace it would be OK to send the introductory message and then send a meeting request for a short intro meeting, regardless of whether you get a reply. They can decline the meeting if it doesn't work. This varies by office though.

I would not take it to Teams/Slack if the original was an email.

For context, I'm an early career professional and a few months new to my job. I have been networking with people from various teams and sometimes when I send an email introducing myself and asking if they are open to a quick chat, maybe half the time I don't get a response.

I know peoples' inboxes are flooded oftentimes but would still love to meet them. How is sending a Teams/Slack message a week or two after if they didn't respond to my email (esp since sending a follow-up via email may even flood the inbox more)?
