This. My teens entire wardrobe is sweats. Same at their high school. It’s extremely rare to see anyone in khakis or jeans.

My kids won’t wear jeans. Go figure.

But your kid associates athletic wear to poverty. That’s interesting. My DH does the same and my kids aren’t allowed to wear hoodies to school because DH thinks it’s thug attire.

Mom you have been gifted this problem, use his poverty aversion to your advantage: only poor people are c students who don’t eat broccoli.

Our 1% HHI family wears sweats all day everyday or leggings or joggers and hoodies.

More importantly if my kid said what yours did they would be poor. I'd make sure of it.

My 8 yo only wears sweatpants, athletic jerseys and hoodies. I can’t get him in jeans or any other pants with a button and a fly. It’s a strange statement but kids have their own style. I also cannot get him to wear his down jacket in the cold. He will layer up a fleece and a hoodie and cliam he isn’t cold.

My son (youngest with two sisters) started worrying about what clothes he thinks are cool in kindergarten. Seriously- I was shocked, as my girls didn’t care until 6th grade. Or they did care what they wore- but it was more about what THEY liked rather than what everyone else was wearing.
Honestly, in general he is so much more of a pack animal that it makes sense.
