The level of hysteria here about navigating sub-optimal road conditions from some people. Wow.

If your street genuinely "never" gets treated or plowed, go to the County website and enter your info. They have a website form for this.

I expect to be back out in the world like normal on Tuesday personally. But I'll also drive over some snow and ice on my side street to get to the main road and not sweat it. Based on the amount of traffic in the days following storms, most people behave the way I do.


I'm thinking more like Wednesday for most areas, but agree. I doubt the majority of DCUM posters will be truly housebound until next Saturday.

Also, the heavy stuff doesn't start until late evening tomorrow. Go to a restaurant/get take-out/delivery tomorrow if you get tired of cooking (raises hand), because it'll be a long few days if you've got snacky kids around all day.

I’m in Alexandria and in the same boat. When we last had a really bad snow our street was unplowed for a week. I went out yesterday and stocked up on enough groceries and frozen food to last until next weekend. That said, Amazon fresh was fairly well stocked this morning

Nova here and was able to get everything I needed at Giant today, with a few substitutions. There were a lot of people shopping but the staff was there, too, working their heads off. Appreciate them for all they do!

You'll be able to find food. It might not be your first choice food. Most likely, some things will be restocked but other items will still be empty. Don't go in looking for specific items, you may have to accept what is available.

Don't overlook the frozen aisles for meat and veggies. Even if you don't have freezer space, you can put them in a closed container outside and they'll be fine all week.

I believe Trader Joe’s restocks everynight as SOP. Get there right when they open. Other stores have pre scheduled deliveries and can vary how quickly they stock the shelves.

I went today at 8am. It was a little startling how much was missing (cow's milk, chicken and meat, eggs, lots of produce, etc...) but I got everything I wanted with some minor substitutions.

I'd advise going right before they close then trying again first thing in the AM if that is a bust.

That was my guess too. I forgot to mention that I do have a WF delivery scheduled for 9pm tonight but I’m guessing it will be cancelled or have 1/2 the stuff missing.

I am legitimately low on groceries and need to get some basics … I’m assuming the shelves will be stripped again tonight but hoping that the bigger stores will be able to restock overnight and I can grab some stuff Saturday AM? I’m just talking about some milk, ground beef, and veggies, nothing fancy.
