We did a summer camp there and it was very well done.

Ideaventions is quite a small school, with all the good and all the bad that implies. Parents and teachers knew each other well. Can't get lost in the shuffle.

From a friend, they are selective; she has a bright kid who they thought wasn't quite bright enough. Past few years, roughly half their seniors have been national merit semi-finalists.

Unlike some of the local privates, their reading list is of high quality.

Why did you think it wasn’t a fit?

Your child must be devoid of even the smallest whiff of a learning difference, no matter how gifted they are.

I know a teacher who left there to teach a different independent school. She left because they were not willing to deviate from their model of fast-paced advanced classes even for the kids who were not succeeding under the model, yet they also wouldn't counsel those kids out.

This appears to be a STEM micro school in Reston. I did some searches and have not found any posts in the last 12 months. DD is very interested in STEM, strong in math, and we live in Herndon.

Also we are looking at some other privates in Oak Hill/Herndon/Reston area, all of which are much larger than Ideaventions (although each is still small when compared with FH).

How many students total (all grades) in their MS?
How many students total (all grades) in their US?
What experiences have your own kids had there in the past 1-2 years?
Pros and Cons?
Strengths and weaknesses?

Thanks!
