Is this legit? Has anyone not done this? Are there any consequences if you don't do this or delay doing this?

I wouldn’t be surprised if it returned at the rate that Trump is starting conflicts around the world. It’s not like Trump has any kids who would be in danger of being drafted.
Trump might have grandkids eligible. But they can just follow Trump's lead and pretend to have a condition that excepts them like Trump's bone spurs.
Barron should have signed up fairly recently!

Maybe I am familiar because I had brothers so there were many conversations in my household about the draft. My father and his age group were Draft age during the Vietnam War and I heard stories about how they were fortunate not to be drafted.
When male students applied for college financial aid, loans, scholarships and filled out the FAFSA, they were also required to sign up for the Selective Service System. It was easy to do and included in the application. If a male didn't register they didn't get aid.
However, as a part of the 2020 FAFSA Simplification Act, a student’s eligibility to receive college aid is no longer tied to their registration status with the Selective Service. So there is no more automatic registration with the FAFSA.
Many States have automatic registration for the Draft when males get drivers licenses.
