Are you thinking of a different school? There are some cute towns near by, but they are small. The area is quite rural. Not sure where you live, but for those of “DC Urban”, the area would indeed be remote and isolated. We visit frequently because we have family in that area. Many people do have NYC connections, but they’ve moved upstate for a different way of life.
I live in Saratoga Springs and often commute to NYC. Annandale on the Hudson is neither remote not isolated, it is typical Hudson River Valley which is a chain of small towns but nothing is isolated or remote. Maybe by DC Urban standards it is isolated and remote but not by ours.

DC was very interested for a hot second but the program in their intended major was too generalized so they ended up skipping applying. Had a chance to talk to admissions at a fair, did a good amount of online research, looks like an amazing school.

I know someone who attended years back and they loved it.

The most talented young poet I met at a writing conference was enrolled there (and had achieved a fellowship) - while don't know anyone closely, just want to chime in that the writing/arts seems very strong

Good international connections and exchanges. Even has a Berlin campus. Done a lot with prison education and early college high schools. An innovative place.

It’s an excellent school. Location is fantastic and the campus/Hudson Valley is so beautiful. Their modern music/arts building is also beautiful and state of the art.

It’s a decent school, has a good reputation in NY/NJ/CT and New England, and has nicely secured its financial future.

Many famous alumni in music and entertainment, actors Chevy Chase, Adrien Grenier (Entourage) and one of the guys from the Beastie Boys. Good access to NYC and most alums will end up there. Rigorous academics through the moderation process, you don't just select a major you have to apply and justify admittance to a major through the academic work you've done.
