Act 2 varies depending on interest and staffing. If your student doesn’t want to take orchestra since it’s the only elective they’d get in 6th, I’d advise doing private lessons at home during the year to keep up skills so the can rejoin in 7th. Also act 2 is limited enrollment and some of them fill up with 7th and 8th graders who typically get priority over the 6th graders.

Sorry I clicked send by mistake. My daughter will be entering 6th grade in Williamsburg next year and is a bit confused over whether she wants to do the exploratory wheel vs Orchestra (she plays the violin in her elementary school orchestra). If anyone has any thoughts on either please do share! I also have the following questions:

1) For orchestra, can she simply just take orchestra in 7th and 8th grade? If so does it make a difference with regards to her experience with orchestra in middle school and whether she can play in high school?

2) How long are Act II classes? How many days of the week are they? And are they an option for 6th graders?

3) She is most interested in journalism, theater and family and consumer sciences when it comes to the exploratory wheel. It seems that she can do journalism and theater as electives in 7th and 8th grade and/or Act II. But what about family and consumer sciences?

Thank you!
