I actually agree with you that they should never separate families. (I mean have they, though? Are dad and son together?) I think it would actually have been worse to have left the boy with a stranger with whom he might or might not be safe.
What makes the situation UNFORGIVABLE is that the father was legal. It isn't that he is not a violent criminal. It is not that he is not any sort of criminal. It is that he is here LEGALLY.

MAGAs will say he is here legally only because Biden let him in, which they disagree with. They don't recognize their legal status, which will shortly be revoked by a sham immigration judge. So they support removing them and sending them back to their country, or El Salvador CECOT, who cares, out of sight, out of mind.
