The next price level up (Ann Taylor, Nordstrom's, J. Crew) has quality issues considering their high prices. Also styling, selection, and service issues. Nordstrom's petite selection is terrible. In 30 years, I've only found 3 things at Nordstrom's and one had massive quality problems. Ann Taylor likes fragile fabrics and skinny cuts. Their sale racks have bizarre remnants.

Uniqlo, Abercrombie, Aritzia, and lulemon have small sizes. Look for ankle length pants.

A lot of places that don’t have a lot of (or any) petites in stores do have them online. I find things I like in the store—I just like to put my hands on things. Then I order the petite version online. This has worked well just recently for Banana Republic and Athleta, for example.

Pretty much anywhere and get it tailored if it didn't already come in petite.

Some brands run shorter than others and I have long limbs. So for Tuckernuck, which runs short, most dresses and skirts hit mid-thigh on me and don't need to be hemmed.

Designer pants usually need to be hemmed.

My teen daughter likely won't grow more than 5'1" and it's difficult to find short-enough clothes, both tops and bottoms. I'm 5'4", with a long torso, and can wear normal tops and shortened bottoms. But she needs short everything, and the selection just isn't great. I've bought J Crew tops XXS for her, and she still fits into Gap Kids XL for pants!

It's 2026. There are no clothes in stores for anyone - short or tall. We're all buying online. Everyone has a huge selection of petite online. Literally, name a large clothing brand.

For pants (I'm very short legged), i like abercrombie, jcrew, boden, paige, dl1961, uniqlo....

My torso is more average length, so i do non-petite.

Isn't petite and short redundant?

I wear mostly JCrew, Old Navy and Madewell pants (almost always hemmed) and regular sized tops.

Old Navy has a surprisingly robust selection of petite clothing that I like for basics and denim. For work basics I’ve found Talbots fits nice for someone who is short and busty.

find a reliable seamstress-- sometimes i prefer the fit of regular pants and then just take them to get hemmed.

I agree about the quality going down. Still ok for jeans and pants that I don't have to hem.
