I wouldn’t do Brown.

If you are more “science” than “studies”, look into broader science programs. They always have an earth/environmental cohort. BU rise has it.

Raise tilapia maybe? I’m not kidding. Can be done in tanks in the basement. Enviro science is super common especially among female applicants to brown, Yale. Something weird will help kid stand out.

None of T10 restricts major declaration. Get in first worry about major later.

Are you sure there are jobs for this major? Id encourage majoring in engineering instead.

If your DC is interested in attending Brown, I highly recommend this program: https://precollege.brown.edu/programs/bell-program. I personally know someone who went there, enjoyed it, applied ED and got into Brown.

What about activities? Summer programs? We have a developing list….

Even if "T10s" are considered, schools such as Middlebury, Colorado College, Hamilton, Bates and Bowdoin may devote proportionally more resources to environmental fields, and also would seem to be worth consideration:

Looking for spike/EC advice for a non-DC private school kid. Aiming for T10.

Top 5-10% (don’t know exactly); 1520 SAT (retaking); 3.92uw;
all advanced science/math (all As); special environmental senior independent project.

ECs: captain debate (regional awards); class president/stuco; enviro club VP; food pantry volunteer; V sports/co-captain (sports awards too)….

Nothing distinctive related to major….looking for summer activities and/or meaningful niche projects in 1-2 areas to show an interdisciplinary spike?
Summer programs?
Other application based fellowships or remote activities?
Ideas to strengthen profile?
