I check every fall that our kids have snow boots and snow pants. If I don't have some that fit a particular kid, I buy used (usually eBay) in neutral colors so they can be handed down.
If the gear is never used in a particular year, oh well, it wasn't too much money and since I buy used it wasn't wasteful. Sometimes I resell things if they are still in good condition after my kids have outgrown it.

I buy all that stuff at the thrift store. We’ve had ours since Nov though. Not sure what they’ll have last minute.
Try buy nothing groups on fb too.

This is what I do and we hand down DD's to her little cousins (both boy and girl).

I just went through all our boots and snow bibs and put the ones that didn't fit on facebook marketplace. I noticed a bunch of other people did the same. I've already sold most almost instantly.

I buy them one size up and they last for 2 years. Plus I have 3 kids so I just buy every size there is and I'm covered. I've always bought used and they're only $10. For kids the bibs are best because otherwise they get snow down their pants.

Check thrift stores like Unique, too. But Costco often has good prices. We’ve always gotten multiple years out of snow pants/bibs.

If you don’t want to buy snow boots, you can use thick wool socks under rain boots. But we usually get at least *some* snow every year, and go on winter hikes.

Also check with your buy nothing group, and offer up the stuff your kids have outgrown on there this week.

Rain suits can work over top of heavier clothing if needed. Get a jacket and pants set and then you can use them during the summer for rain as well.

Lands End has adjustable snowpants, tho don't know that you can get them in time. Also, local list servs/buy nothing/moms groups/consignment shops are great for this sort of thing.

We tend to get boots that are comfortable and not too bulky, also good for cold slushy days etc, not just snow. So they get some use.

Agree snow pant bibs are usually good for 2yrs and I reuse for both kids.

Second Target’s Cat & Jack snow bibs. Has adjustable straps and the legs can be extended by letting out threading.

Target often has them. And I bought some at Costco at christmas. Not sure if they're still in stock

get the snowbibs with adjustable straps - you may be able to get 2 year wear out of one. Or look at Lidl in person, they sell super cheap snowpants there.

We are not skiing family it feels a waste of money to buy snow bibs and snow boots just for snow sleeding at backyard if there is enough snow in dmv area for any years. Sometimes there is not even one day of snow sliding in a year. Do they at least sell adjustable length in snow bibs legs, so that can last longer? I am shopping for snow bibs and boots now for this upcoming weekend. Thank you
