We spent three nights in Naxos and it felt like enough. I think Paros is more buzzy at the moment. We had planned a daytrip to Paros, but a ferry strike prevented that. Wish I would have seen it.

We were there in April so the beach towns weren't really open yet. We did drive and peer at them. Seemed terrific. You need a day for Naxos town, a day for driving around to some other towns and archaeo sites like the Temple of Demeter and the kouros and Halki. We especially loved the olive oil museum and the Manolis pottery. Recommend Axiotossa restaurant near the beaches and Doukato in town. We did not eat at Metaxi Mas but I wanted to--adorable spot.

In Athens, doing the Parthenon and its museum are a must!

We were in Naxos last year, as well as Paros. I would suggest Paros. Naxos is pretty sleepy, and the restaurant scene was mediocre at best. Naoussa in Paros on the other hand was spectacular. We also spent time in the Athenian Riveria, which I would recommend as well.

Went there a couple of years ago, really enjoyed it. 4 nights is perfect in Naxos. Spent 2 days in Athens before to see the major sites there, happy we did.

We flew from Athens, if you book far in advance the price of flights or ferry were about the same, and from the main hotel parts of Athens it's about the same amount of time to the airport or the port. Athens airport security was reasonable so no need to get there more than say 75 minutes before departure. Naxos Airport is TINY and most people arrive 30-40 minutes before departure. One thing to note is that there aren't any taxis usually waiting at Naxos Airport to pick up anyone, they are reserved, so make sure you have your hotel or rental help you reserve a taxi to pick you up, it's around 25 euros to the main places within a 15 minute drive or so (same on return).

We stayed at Agios Prokopios beach and really enjoyed it, the beach is great, there are plenty of places to eat there, but it's not like a late night party area generally. Also only 20-25 minutes bus ride into the main town, and 10 minute taxi ride from the airport. You can also rent a car there for a day or two if you want to drive to some of the inland sites/ruins, which seemed to be a popular choice. If you do end up staying in AG, eat one dinner at Giannoulis, it's super popular because the food is good and the vibes are immaculate. Line is constant but we got there early (hungry kids) around 6 PM so barely waited.

I'd say 3 days - and we spent one of the days renting a 4 wheeler and driving out to some beach that has gigantic boulders. The beach in town is very shallow. The old town is cute and adorable with lots of stores, cafes, etc. I'd add one more island to your trip!

Help me decide between 3 or 4 nights in Naxos. 2 empty nesters! We will be in London for 3 days prior. 50/50 on whether we want to visit the sights in Athens or just head to the beach.

Looking for advice. What do you wish you had done differently? We don't drink and the idea of partying to us is being in bed by 7pm. We're open to other islands but really looking for the white sandy beaches and blue ocean. Oh, and do you have an area to stay in that you would recommend?
