Love this show because those competing are all "home bakers," not professional chefs (although they are all really good), and, most importantly, they all support each other. It's not cutthroat at all, they are all so nice

I’ve loved watching the Harry Potter wizards of baking competition with my kids. We just got hbo max and it’s been a nice surprise to find a new cooking show there.

I like the competition shows because I get bored just watching people cook. The competition adds stakes and tension.

I go back further. The Galloping Gourmet and Julia Child. But your point is well taken.
