NP. I am surprised that Catholic schools use electronics at all, I would expected things to be old school.

You don’t have to take notes on the tablet. My DD prefers it but some teacher don’t even allow it and she has to use a notebook. Some teachers let them choose and plenty of girls choose paper notebooks.

But she says there are girls that mess around online instead of taking notes. Which is crazy for the pace Visi moves and will likely catch up to them quickly.

it is nice to have everything in one place, notes, homework etc on tablet. Doesn’t take so much space and easier to not lose.

Has anyone set up screen time on the tablet to block things like YouTube? Filtering that on the router will require special hardware

Which school didn’t give out Chromebook or iPad until high school?

St Jerome Institute is all pen and paper.

As a teacher at a private high school in another state that used to require iPad use, it was really the beginning of the end. As soon as the students realized they actually hated the way it ' made us stupid ' and got addicted to games, texting on iMessage and bypassing the school's restrictions by way of VPN, and the parents realized they were paying 50k for their kids to spend time playing in class, enrollment started suffering and good teachers left. Word from old colleagues is that a lot of teachers now tell them to put the iPads away in class and have gone back to textbooks and good old photocopying.

I have a DD at Visi and I know they manage/restrict some things as needed but I don't see how or why they could implement screentime on a device used for homework. My suggestion would have been to reach out to the school but since that doesn't seem to be an option I think this will be something you have to manage at home by turning off internet or having homework done in the same room, etc. I'd probably talk to my kid about it, express my concerns and try to come up with a plan together.

Our DD had to buy a tablet for school work this year which she uses for most of her homework, school work snd note taking.

I think she maybe using the table to play games or watch videos on youtube — is there a way to lock them down that wont interfere with school functions? I can turn on screentime and manage there, but she claims no one has screentime on their school tablets and I cant easily reach out to school to discuss (long story).

Curious what other parents do or even other schools? I expected an enterprise setup which would manage remotely but ours seems to
be lacking that.
