Same.

Teens can be embarrassed by being out with their parent. I make it as easy as possible. I don't want to be the jerk my kid doesn't want to go places with. That said, we do talk about manners but I never expect perfection; my kid is a good kid, and manners will improve with time.

Do you have kids? When they were at the mall with you as teens and ran into a friend, they'd say, "Mom, This is Larlo. Larlo this is my mom Diane."???

I have never noticed what my kid does. I’m pretty sure she says something like “mom, this is Larla.” But if she doesn’t, I probably just say “hi, I’m x’s mom, first name.” It seems strange you are looking for a lot of formality here.

The best thing is to be the person that drives all the kids around. You learn so much.

Mine always introduce me to their friends when we're out and they come across them randomly etc.

^ I misread, you specifically said if they DO stop to talk. I would just say, hello, I’m Jane’s mom, Janet. - this is not a big deal. Or I don’t if they are talking in rapid fire words and we can’t get a word in. Then I would say it at the end and not over think it. It’s not that formal.

I would not expect an introduction. I would say hello, the other parent would say hello. We all smile and keep walking. This is assuming they aren’t stopping for a conversation since you mentioned they just “breeze by.” We are all there shopping. We don’t need to stop and talk.

Yes, a quick intro is basic manners. Teach them to your kid.

When your teens run into other teens, what are the situations where you would want them to learn to do introductions?

If a teen breezes by someone they know in the mall to me that is the teens greet each other and no introduction to parent expected, but if parent is standing with teen and another teen comes over (that the parent has not met), would expect quick introduction (and then parent side steps out of conversation zone) or what is expectation by most these days?
