I tried to Google but closest I found was a book about a real couple that both wanted a baby. This book was called "Two Kisses for Maddy" but was renamed "Fatherhood" after a movie was made based on the story.

Lots of people here who read a lot, so perhaps you know which book I’m thinking of but can’t find.

I am looking for a book or an essay by a man who became an involuntary father.

This is what I know about it,
Man and his wife living in a city. I think the man was American.
His wife wanted to have children. He did not want to have children.
They followed her wish, and had a child, a daughter (I think).
His wife died.
He is now a single father and a widower. And an involuntary father.
He wrote a book/essay about this.

I think this was 10 years ago, or less.

I have tried to google with different key words, but all the results I get are wrong.
All the results I get are either about men who are involuntary childless, or about widowed fathers in general.
