I disagree. Why should clubs in the DMV do the same? They are businesses. Shouldn’t they do the things that make the money? That’s how I run my own business. Why shouldn’t they do the same?
Correct. They should make money if they are a business. As a consumer, I can choose how I choose my money. I don't have to support the travel and tourism industry under the disguise of development. I have not seen ONE kid in our age group that has risen far and above the rest of the age group. Why do I need to fly to Madrid or drive to DE, PA or NJ to test ourselves when I have Arlington, VDA, etc. within a hour drive to give our kids a run.
For those who did not watch the video though, you're missing the points.
But, we the smart parents on DCUM know better than a former pro player who ran FC Delco and now at Red Bulls who actually has his kid in a Pay 2 Play club. Cool.

How you know their kid isn't a future pro?
Why are you sure they won't be?
Chasing unrealistic outcomes at great time and expense comes with great opportunity costs. If your kid is truly that talented it would be so obvious and inevitable, and not because of the club he joined or team he was on at 12 years old.

When Red Bull Academy plays locally, they play up a year or two. This is not just a professional academy, it is one of the best professional academies in MLS. Do not compare Red Bull Academy to Arlington or VDA or Bethesda. Those are youth clubs.

This is from a professional academy. Most of the “high level” players and parents playing on local mlsn and ecnl teams are not and never will be at that level. Local clubs are not and should not be run like professional academies. If you watch this video and think it applies to your kid and coaches you are living in a dream world.
