Get an ADN degree. WAY cheaper, focus on skills instead of stats and music theory. My ADN class had a 100% NCLEX pass rate, I'm currently OCN certified and there is no difference in pay between me and BSN nurses

This. Nursing is like Engineering. Any accredited program is fine because the accreditation process ensures the floor is set high and that all programs are rigorous.

For nursing, you can just go to the university that fits the best or you like the most. Don’t pressure to go to a tippy top school.

All of these. Also GMU.

Radford University. I know several nurses who went there and are doing really well in their careers.

Marymount University in Arlington has a very strong nursing program.

JMU, VCU, longwood. Also Loyola Md just started a new nursing program and they give great merit aid. (Original COA was 60k but 3.5 gpa daughter received $35k in merit)

What kind of research has your DD done? It's not hard to find NCLEX pass rates. Does she want direct-admit, need merit, small or large school, on-campus hospital?

Would it surprise you to learn that WVU-Morgantown produces about the same number as UVA and almost twice as many overall first-time test-takers (with all their campuses) and has a slightly higher pass rate than UVA? Only 2 WVU students out of 197 did not pass NCLEX in 2024 (last year I could find #s for).

Catholic University has a nursing school and I believe it is very well regarded. Yes, CUA is EXTREMELY conservative religious. But the university definitely has a traditional college feel and the Conway School of Nursing has a first time 96% pass rate on the NCLEX. The nursing school just opened a brand new building. It is expensive but they do give merit aid.

She will be applying to UVA but obviously a huge reach. What are other good options that still have a traditional college feel but good pass rates for the nursing exam?
