But the pimple comes from poor hygiene. If you up the hygiene, then you decrease the pimples and you don't need the patches. Looking for those specific foaming face pads jf anyone remembers them and knows something similar.

Be careful about saying this. I had bad acne and impeccable hygiene. It's so shaming for someone to say "why don't you wash your face differently?"

In my case, less products so I wasn't overly drying my skin and cutting out dairy helped somewhat, but it was primarily a genetic hormonal thing that I mostly outgrew. But I still have the physical scars and mental scars from people telling me I had bad hygiene or ate too much pizza or chocolate (I gave up both, actually, no difference).

This, I remember people telling me to wash my face when I was a teen with pimples. So I'd scrub my face with the most astringent stuff I could find, which made everything so much worse. A) my acne was hormonal and genetic, my sisters had rhe same issue B) over washing made it was worse and focusing on moisturizing actually improved my kid significantly.

For the love of God stop telling kids to wash their faces when they have acne.

Acne has wide variance. For bad cases, even outstanding hygiene alone is not enough.

Washing pillow cases every other day helped me a lot. If laundry is less frequent then buy 2 spare pillow cases.

PP found the Neutrogena pads I used.

I also used alcohol wipes mid-morning and mid-afternoon on school days. I used plain soap and water on other days.

I didn't see anything for that but something like that sounds like that. Has to be something simple and quick my teen can do on his own because he wont let me touch his face unlike the above poster. I don't think he is properly using his acne cleanser, and just washes it off too quickly before it can be effective. He plays a sport and gets very sweaty and hence pimply.

My 13 year old son started breaking out pretty badly recently. Here’s my regimen (bc he’s a dude)
Change pillow cases every other day
Cerave salicylic cleanser (ok )
Thayers salicylic acid toner
Steamed washcloths on face , followed by me rubbing gently around nose and cheeks to loosen debris , some extractions , longer warm compresses but not picking at larger whiteheads or pimples
Dead Sea mud mask from NY Biology 1-2x a week - truly effective but drying
Cerave clay spot treatment

Have found Differin benzoyl peroxide spot cream ineffective. I know his diet could be cleaned up but that’s another day

Not all pimples come from poor hygiene.

My teen has been getting these awful big pimples on his cheeks. I remember in my younger days being able to buy (I think they were Neutrogena) these face pads that you can wet and then use them to wash your face, they would foam up and then you tossed them. I can't find anything like this anywhere. Does anyone know what I am talking about and have you seen them? They worked so well for me and I am disappointed that I cant find something similar.
