Retinol has done this to me. Esp if you used without sunscreen. HA would not do this unless allergic.

Every time I have tried hyularonic acid, it get red and irritated. In this dry climate it can actually pull moisture away. You need to add moisture.

Small red scaley patches. Plus some Roc retinol occasionally.

Is this a thing? If so, how to fix besides stop using it.

It’s more likely the retinol and/or a combo of retinol plus another ingredient. I like Roc, but some of their formulas are strong and some also contain Vit C, which can be irritating to sensitive skin.

Reactions to HA like what you’re describing are rare—it’s even included in some eye drop formulations:

Probably the combination of all these.

So now I use a new surface on the sponge each day and after each surface has been used, it goes in the trash. Assuming you use makeup, try using clean sponges. This never happened to me until my 50s and I have work make up regular my entire adult life.

I use a cotton pad for cleansing, clean fingers for foundation, but maybe a powder brush for a setting powder could be the problem, but I clean it a lot. So that's gross- will have to use a new clean brush every day.

Interestingly enough, people complain about CeraVe too, and I also use that. It could be any number of ingredients that are bugging me.

It’s very dry these days, you probably need some emollient moisturizer like lanolin or coconut oil.

Sounds like you are mixing too many products.

Go see a Dermatologist.
Inquire about proper products to use.

HA cannot do that. Go see a derm if you are this concerned.

You probably did burn your face but it’s the retinol that did it

That would be extremely rare for the HA to be the issue, barring an allergy. Most likely it’s the other ingredients in your products that you’re using. For example, after using the Micellar water you then wash your face, right? Also for whatever reason, many people are sensitive to Roc products. I’m not sure if it’s just easy to use too much retinol or if there is a common irritant in their products.
