Highly recommend Anne Dutia at Spivey Consulting. DC did a limited package with her to be sure the essays were on the mark (no attorneys in the family) and for general advice. DC was highly successful (multiple T14 offers including a T6, and excellent merit offers). Anne was supportive, gave concrete advice, and absolutely worth every penny.

Law school is 98% LSAT and GPA. You apply and then go to the best school you get into (or the best school in the region you plan to work in, if below T10-15 or so).

There, you now know everything that a law school consultant would be able to tell you.

true but GPA is always considered in the context of the undergraduate school.

And how would a law school admissions consultant change that? It wouldn't.

What is the LSAT and how does the GPA compare to the undergrad medians?
At some undergrads, a 3.9 on a 4.0 scale (with no 4.3-A+ weight added for the law school gpa) is not even top 25%(Harvard, Penn Wharton only(other Penn schools, SEAS/CAS, are not inflated), Brown, Duke).
Even from ivy/T10 "feeders", top-6 law usually needs top 1/4 GPA or better.
Since you say you regretted no consultant for undergrad, he is presumably not at ivy/T10 and maybe not even within T30ish? In that case the GPA needs to be top 5% of the undergrad to have a shot at T6 law.

No need for a consultant unless he is at a school that sends very few to T14. Then it could be helpful. Otherwise he can get all of the advice needed from a couple of prelaw advising meetings. Most schools have tables showing what gpa and LSAT from that undergrad correlates to which tier of law school admits.
Ours graduated ivy, all of their prelaw friends got in to at least one T14, many got into T6 law. Some applied during undergrad, some applied this year (gap) and are already in good places, waiting for the rest.

OP, he needs the grades and a great LSAT score. If he wants an extra edge, full time work experience, after college, in any field.

I agree with the PPs that there is no need for a consultant.

I agree - law school is not like undergrad/business school. Your son could have someone look over his resume and essay, but GPA and LSAT are far more important. Also, if he is truly considering a career as an attorney int he near future he needs to be able to handle these kinds of things himself without parent involvement.

It would be a waste of time for law school. All that matters is gpa and lsat.
