I'm surprised a trainer told you every day (unless they were looking for you to pay them every day).

I lift and do stair climber both to maintain muscle as I age. Use it or lose it!

I have to work out and eat carefully (1500-1800 calories) to keep from gaining. I still need to lose more weight, but I am just trying to maintain for now.

Exercise for health, cut calories for weight loss

I'm someone who likes intense cardio. Working out makes you by hungrier. However it improves your heart, breathing, mood. I find my anxiety is a lot worse if I can't work out for a couple weeks.

Weightloss is primarily diet, but overall health needs exercise.

Health. And more regular weight training now that I’m 40 and need to gain muscle mass. I used to lift occasionally, and a trainer told me I really should be lifting almost every day.

Light exercise such as walking is extremely regulation for your brain, mood and hormones.

I don't have weight issues, but I do count aesthetics as one of the reasons why I work out.

No, I watch my diet. I workout to stay healthy.

Both. Working out maintains my weight and it keeps my body fit. Cardio is terrific. Swimming is great. I don't go crazy but it is instrumental in keeping my body in good physical shape as I age into my late 40s. I do feel more spry and capable than I otherwise would.

I lost a lot of weight walking an hour a day for a year.

About 25% of that weight crept back on over 3-4 years when I got lazy and stopped weighing myself and wearing things like leggings again instead of jeans.

Now I’m 2 weeks back in, my 2026 resolution.

It’s low impact, it’s manageable, I sleep better, makes me feel better, it’s better than just sitting like a bump on a log etc.

Yesterday at a physical the NP asked me if I have things to look forward to every day (depression screening, I live alone in my late 50s) and I said, “having the 60 minutes of walking be over”

So that’s kind of where I am with that

You can never outrun a bad diet.

Or for the health benefits? I would rather not eat than work out to lose weight. But I have no food chatter/noise. I don’t like food other than that I know I need it to live. I do like a good meal that someone else cooks for me but I could care less if I ate during the day.

Working out for me is about health not to lose weight.
