It’s the least Catholic of the best Catholic schools, Notre Dame, Holy Cross, Boston College, and Georgetown.

I've attended Sunday services and seen / heard some very "not woke" stuff. One kid in particular got his 10 minutes in the pulpit and slipped in some VERY non-Christian commentary. Something roughly along the lines of "God tolerates the poor but we don't have to"
It was a memorable moment because the pastor started eyeballing the kid like "What do you think you're getting away with, buddy?"

Last time I attended. I prefer church to just be church and not some kind of weird culture war zone.

So, no, Georgetown has plenty of MAGA types. But, being Jesuit, it also has plenty of nice guy Catholics also

How do you "try out personalities"? Your personality is shaped by genetics and other factors beyond your control.

I mean, I don’t what to say if you’ve never heard or seen this in kids as they mature into adults. You’re the same person as you were in elementary school? Of course not.

Don't want to send your kid anywhere people believe in human rights ....

And Pope Francis, the first Jesuit pope, was too woke for some. He was my favorite. Though I really like the current pope too.

Jesuits are Jesuits. They believe in being people for others, giving back, service to others, helping the marginalized.

If you think that is a “woke” concept, we’ll sign my kids up. Well, wait mine out in Jesuit HS so I already did.

It’s sad when we consider being a good citizen to be “woke” and not expected in society.

If you use that word and you have to ask, it might not be the right fit?

The Jesuits were “woke” before there was a word for it, with core values such as People for Others, Faith that does Justice, and Community in Diversity.

I tend to look at the departmental course offerings and faculty areas of research. That is very telling. I learned a lot a day also helpful for kid to see the types of courses offered. Every major is different. Humanities and certain social sciences are different than business, econ and engineering. It's also good to check k required geneds. For the cost of college, it pays to be an informed consumer. College websites have all the info.

It's catholic. Not woke at all.

Can anyone elaborate on how woke Georgetown really is? I hear all the time that it's one of the wokest of the elite schools, but the students I'm familiar with who've gone there don’t line up with that reputation. When you think Georgetown you think social justice focused, politically far left wing, and super plugged into the DC activist ecosystem. But most people I'm aware of who went or currently go there there are pre-professional and money-focused, pursuing fields like consulting, finance, law, etc. Not that they couldn't also be woke, but I see them more as wannabe MOTU types. So what's the real deal with Georgetown? Does the woke vibe dominate, or does the school's presence in DC just make it easier for a small minority of activist types to appear as a larger force than they really are?
