Yes ombré balayage is an option but I wouldn’t call it bold.

I don't understand what "bold hair color" means if you don't want color recommendations. And also if you don't want to look dated -- the current trends are towards more subtle, blended highlights. Yes, ombre or dramatic balayage will look dated. Which , if you love them, who cares. But you want both.

I'd just poke around on Pinterest. It's not really possible for us to recommend something based on what you've requested here.

I'm not sure "bold hair color" and "low maintenance" go together. I used to get highlights and lowlights that weren't very far from my natural color, and even then after a couple of months you could see my natural roots. If you could find an OTC root cover, that may cut down on maintenance. I know my mom gets her hair colored 2-3 times a year and covers her gray roots at home in between.

If you don't want "harsh grow out lines" you don't have much choice beyond highlights. And even with those you can have ugly growth if your highlights are too much of a contrast to your natural color.

Like PP said, you need to talk to your stylist.

Looking for bold hair color ideas (no vivids though). My stylist prefers to give baby lights, but that’s not my vibe.

I’m looking for pattern/style ideas, not specific colors. Is ombré balayage an option? I need something that won’t give me harsh grow out lines (and unfortunately demi glaze root melt gives me harsh lines even though it isn’t supposed to), and I don’t want to look super dated.
