Also, EVA serves Singapore, Saigon, and Hanoi - any of which would be one stop connecting in TPE.

I work in the travel industry. Leisure travel has pretty much recovered since Covid, around 2022 or 2023. It should work out for them, but it’s relatively easy to change routes.
