These are the 2025-2026 Statistics from DeanJ:

“Early Decision Applications
Total number of Early Decision applications: 5,108 (4,971 last year)
Total number of VA apps: 3,077 (2,795 last year)
Total number of OOS apps: 2,031 (2,176 last year)


We use completed applications in our statistics.

Early Decision Offers
Overall offers: 1,225 (1,282)
Total VA offers: 766 (25% offer rate)
Total OOS offers: 459 (23% offer rate)”

My sophomore chose UVA over an Ivy and elite SLAC, too, and is very happy. He would have chosen a private if not for the money, though.

No supplemental essays gives a substantial boost to applicant numbers - see Northeastern as an example.

They had to split the OOS ED pool with Michigan this year. I know a dozen OOS kids who were debating ED between the two.

Yes. I’m sure they’ll get a ton of EA/RD apps. My kid applied EA, but given the mess and uncertainty there this year I would not have let them apply ED (and I say this as an alum who loved my time there).

Yeah, UVA is a backup school for top oos students — private school tuition for a public is not their first choice.

UVa accepted a total of 1225 students in binding Early Decision, per UVa Alumni Newsletter email:
