We went out to Green Front in Manassas last weekend to look in person and found one we love. Heads up though -- they did tell us that their NC outpost had just come in and snagged 70 of their rugs to take back to NC because they "needed them." So apparently they have fewer than normal right now. These aren't inexpensive fwiw -- the cheaper options we looked at for 9 x 12 were running a bit over 1k or so, with the more expensive rugs running around 2k. Nice rugs, though.

Carpet beggars up near Baltimore is so fun. Check it out on Instagram. It’s a big, cold warehouse full of rugs. They’re range from relatively inexpensive to fancy antique, but if you message Donna your budget I’m sure she can work with you. You need an appointment.

Pick the seating area to put the rug. You can put another rug on the other leg of the L.
It's impossible to get a good rug at a big box store. It will look cheap, exception being flatweave. Like Ikea Stockholm series. Classics, loved by designers and cheap.

The room is roughly 20’ x 15’ but the floor space is L shaped.

OP I love rugs! I can help! Your home sounds modern. PP is right, first you need to pick the size. Bigger is always better. I would pick the biggest rug possible for the space. Keeping at least 18" from each wall or 24 if it's a big room.

You'll want to get a hand-knotted rug. Plan on $1000 at least. What's your budget?

First, measure your room so you know what size you need. I prefer all chair legs be on the rug, but at the very least, the front legs should be on the rug. Next, some websites (rugsdirect.com) have a “see in your room” feature. Finally, if you see a rug you like, buy it first in the smallest size available. This way, you can determine if the colors work and it is an easy (and cheaper) return. If the rug works, go ahead and buy the bigger size. Another method is to take a pillow or arm cover with you to Home Goods to see which rugs coordinate with your current sofa and chairs. Most of Home Goods selections are in the 8 X 10 size range.

Try asking AI. I also recommend getting a rug from Home Goods or At Home. They have decent quality rugs and great prices. But the best part is you can return them easily if you don’t like how it looks in place. It’s harder to return rugs online,

I am tired of bare floors but am paralyzed by rug options. I have a sofa in a brownish tweed (room and board’s “Tatum Gray” fabric). Walls are mostly window but also painted a deep black-green. I want a pattern or some kind of pop but don’t know what color family to start with. Help please!
