I doubt it. More like they are trying to get death penalty off the table by taking a plea deal and Nick Reiner refused to take a plea deal.

Nick probably refused to plea not guilty by reason of insanity. He’s going to do it his way. Loser.

Much of the above, but also Nick, given his mental state, might be impossible to work with.

I am managing my parent's estate right now. I'm executor and there are trusts etc. If one of my siblings wanted money for a defense attorney, there'd be no legit way to get that to him right now. Like, maybe once the estate was more settled? But right after the deaths? No way.

But who knows. Maybe the client got pissed off at the attorney and there were ethical conflicts and the attorney had to withdraw.

I would guess money issues, and not enough of a payday to fight what will be a case that seems impossible to "win." Maybe attorney was thinking Not guilty by reason of insanity, and Nick isn't down with that. Maybe the siblings won't testify on his behalf or help.

Milk the estate? Crim defense is hard work. It’s not like he was one of those conservators to a wealthy person

I believe the sister suspected him right away. I think it may have to do with the estate and the fact that he can't inherit from killing his parents (although, I guess he's not convicted yet so that's an interesting question if you can use the funds to exonerate yourself, hah). Perhaps he had a special trust set aside before they died which he could theoretically access, but they found out it could only be used for certain purposes, and criminal defense wasn't one of them.
