If they asked for a specific candle, I would get them that. The fact that it's not a brand I would choose is not a problem for me because it's what they want and it's their birthday!

I don't think getting 4 because you think the gift is too cheap makes much sense. You can round it out or up with a more meaningful gift from you if a single candle feels incomplete, but if I asked someone for A Specific Thing and they randomly gave me four of them I would be a little baffled.

This is a very odd gift, and four is way odder than one.

I'd give one, plus a box of chocolates or a bottle of wine.

Asking because people seem to have collections of these candles. One candle as a gift seems too few but three seems too many? Or do you need to give 4-5 to make it a nice gift?
