This is the age old question. The first bar is to avoid SCEA and use an ED1. Looks like that mistake was made, though.
I would go with an ED2 provided 1) it is actually a step down from existing rejections/deferrals and 2) you do not have a happy “target” school alternative in the RD round (UVA if in-state, say) if all ivy and ivy+ schools in RD are rejects — as is likely.
