Not so. They get distributed to family.

Buy a few external hard drives and back them up that way. I also back them on Amazon Photos, which is unlimited space and free with Prime. And I also use Google Drive, which I pay for, but I use that for my etsy business as well.

I bought a really nice scanner from Costco - it's an Epson scanner specifically for digitizing old photos. I am in the process of scanning all of our old family photos and this made it so much easier.

My mom went crazy with the photos back in the 80s and 90s so we have a ton, which I'm thankful for but at the same time, they take up a ton of space, so they're getting tossed once they're scanned, backed up on a few different drives, and sent to my Google drive.

I still get all my photos in prints. There’s something different about flipping through physical pictures. I don’t like the idea of what are for me, my most valuable things being at the mercy of the cloud alone .

I have not seen a photo album in a store for awhile now.

This is what I’ve been doing for the past decade +, but I would not get rid of my older albums.

My dad, now in his 80s, still makes albums the old-fashioned way and has them organized and well-labeled going back to the 1970s. His kids and grandkids love to look through them when we/they visit.

My goal is to get them all into an Aura, I just haven’t done it yet.

Same. I make one album each year with the best photos. They don’t take up much room and my kids enjoy looking at them. When I pass on, there will only be 18 albums or so for my kids to keep or throw away.

Same here. I like having a physical album in case the cloud blows up or somehow all my photos get deleted.

I like keeping old photos in albums, it keeps them organized and gives me a place to put notes about who the people are, where and when the photo was taken. If they were all dumped in one big box I would completely lose track of what each photo is from.

We now have a digital photo frame that we use instead of photo albums. Kept the old ones from the early days.

Spin off to the decluttering thread. What are you doing about old photo albums? I have them from early in our marriage and from when the kids were young, before we used our iPhones exclusively for photo taking. The space these albums and the photos in them take up could be condensed into just one of those photo boxes, but this runs the risk of the photos becoming an unorganized mess. I’d love to free up the space since they just sit in a closet.

Are you still utilizing photo albums or have you condensed?
