My DS is at a K-8, but our FA has remained the same percentage of tuition over the years. As others have said, you do have to reapply each year, but assuming no huge changes you are likely to be awarded a similar FA package each year.

I would not assume most schools can handle a large increase in aid requests. Exceptions would be schools with exceptionally large endowments. We know people who had to take their kids out of private during the Great Recession.

Not necessarily. Usually you have to reapply every year.

You do have to reapply each year, but if there’s been little change to your financial situation, you’re most likely going to continue to get about the same amount of aid.

Think about how much money we will have once world war 3 starts. As the poor people pay taxes we will take it to pay for the war. The treasures will go to the richest people who will avoid taxes on it. Then the poorest people who have had public poor educations will be stuck with trillions of dollars of more debt as the richest get away again with socialism for the rich and funded but disqualified for benefits poor people. Omg the system is so rigged.

Alternative. People who go to Christian schools start pretending like they are Christians and stop supporting the raping and pillaging of our society for the benefit of billionaires off the backs of poors.

We were on a financial aid wait list last year and were in limbo for a while after the deadline for signing the contract. We took the leap anyway, turning down some schools that did offer us aid right away. We were so grateful to get any money when it freed up that we didn't ask for a reconsideration, even though we're paying about 15k more than we estimated we could and about the same amount more than we would have at the next most expensive school. It's been tough (worth it, I think, but involving some sacrifices) and we have some significant new expenses coming up this year. We made as strong a case as we were able to for an increased award for this upcoming year, but are curious about the timing of decisions.


You should speak with the aid office if you really want to know, but it is standard for aid offers to be made before contracts are due.

I wouldn’t just rely on aid though. Do what you can to solve the financial crunch on your end.

When are financial aid offers made to current families? I imagine this varies from school to school, but do returning families generally get financial aid offers before contracts are due?

We were on a financial aid wait list last year and were in limbo for a while after the deadline for signing the contract. We took the leap anyway, turning down some schools that did offer us aid right away.
