My Democratic congressman Don Beyer posted heartfelt condolences on social media. It is nice to see that some people are still kind, respectful humans regardless of politics. The entire Trump administration should take note.

He can't - you can't just redistrict one district. You have to redistrict them all (which will happen for the election in November). The latest the special election can happen is June.

He can try to ensure the new lines are in effect for the special election.
