Remove the transponder from the windshield. It's held on tightly with Velcro-like pads, but it can be pulled off. The battery will die not too long after the beeping starts. If you don't replace it, you'll be charged tolls based on your license plate being read at toll plazas, incurring a service fee each time in addition to the actual toll.

You can swap it for a new one at a DMV Service Center (only). Not every DMV site is a Service Center; look up their locations on the DMV website.

Since it's registered to your father, you may or may not be able to replace it while keeping it on the same account. You could try simply telling the DMV that your father is out of the country for an extended period of time and cannot personally visit the Service Center. If you share a last name and can show a driver's license with that name, that might work; if you use a different name the DMV may require some proof of your authority to act on your father's behalf, like a power of attorney. They otherwise might assume the transponder is stolen or is otherwise being used in an unauthorized manner.

Lastly, as others have suggested already, open your own EZ Pass account and get your own transponder. That seems the most appropriate course of action, since the transponder you have is not yours to begin with and the tolls it is registering are attributable to you and not to your father's use. .

This happened to me and although they say you can switch it out, they made it so inconvenient to do so that I just bought a replacement. The EZ Pass people are terrible to deal with.

That said, it sounds like you are on your dad's account and he is paying the tolls? Maybe the beeping doesn't bother you ...

There's no way to change the battery and another thing is that this transponder came with a car that my dad left me and he is not here anymore. He's in another country retiring. So I have the car and I have the beeping transponder that I can't remove and I'm not sure what to do with it because I still want to use it but I just need to activate it but when I call into the 800 number they say they want to talk to my dad so he can add me to the account. And let's just say we're not in speaking terms.
