Restaurant business will be fine if they serve smaller portions, which would be great for the environment anyway.

I'm on Zepbound. I joined the gym due to the shot since I want to maintain my lean muscle mass through heavy resistance training. If you are not lifting weights while taking the shot, you are losing a lot of muscle that you want when you are older.

Everyone I know that is on a GLP-1 (including me) is also working out. I work at home but I pay for Apple Fitness, so no, the fitness industry if, if anything, doing better.

I had zero confidence at 60 lbs overweight and wouldn't dare walk into a gym. Now that I look the part, it's much easier to work out.

I am seeing the opposite. People who used to be obese but are finally seeing results are now more motivated than ever to work out and get fit.

I exercise more thinner and I'd say that is pretty common. Plus with GLP 1 and women aging there is a lot of emphasis on muscle loss and the need for strength training.

the smart diet industry businesses are acting as a gateway for GLP-1. that is what weight watchers did.

my many friends on these drugs are all now obsessed with eating protein to make sure they're not wasting away. i think there will always be nutrition fads and companies making money off it.

Since we have been on Wegovy and Zepbound, DH and I have hired a trainer and used a meal delivery service. We look forward to being even more active and taking up a low-impact classes at our nearby gym.

Taking these meds goes hand-in-hand with exercising and getting more fit overall.

That makes sense to me. When you lose weight, you often feel better and have more energy. Issues like knee pain can diminish when you lose weight and then you can be better able to exercise.

not on GLP-1 (yet?) and not a gym goer so no skin in the game but am curious who wins who loses in this new weight loss era. my amateurish take is gyms/personal trainers will see a significant loss of relevance both short term and long term because quick and easy solution always wins, until/unless 20 years down the road GLP-1 bad side effects scare many user away. so maybe half of it goes out of business.
