Unfortunately, I do not care for DH's natural scent and it's a major issue for me. He'd always made an effort to smell great prior to getting married and then personal care interest fell off gradually over many years of marriage. He is well aware that smell is very important to me and I've given him plenty of colognes (that he claims to like) over the years, but he can't be bothered to wear them. Or he remembers once in a blue moon and thinks that will cause me to suddenly swoon.

Same except my DH does not have the same serious issues as this person’s DH. Love his smell even when sweaty. When he smells “off” I know he’s getting ill.

This is very interesting to me so you mind saying which autoimmune disease? I have one and am wondering if my scent changes as well.

I don't think anyone smells good sweaty so hopefully people look after their hygiene.

Maybe it's a general hygiene issue?

Hygiene is a reason to break up.

Truthfully you can break up for any reason.

Anecdotally, I became very sensitive to smells in my late 30s premenopausal and migraines.

Yep. I loved how my late husband smelled until he became an alcoholic and then it was repulsive. I would not be with anyone whose natural smell I don't love.

I broke up with someone in college because their natural scent was so off putting to me - I found it made everything else about them off putting.

No, in my experience I couldn’t marry someone whose natural scent I found off putting

There are so many solutions for that. "Body odor is affected by skin bacteria breaking down sweat, influenced by diet (garlic, onions, red meat), medications, stress, hormones (puberty, menopause), infections, exercise, and health issues like diabetes or kidney/liver disease, all impacting the sweat's composition or the bacteria's activity, leading to changes in smell."
