He explained VHSL rules so that people understood that you can't have freshmen and JV sports while letting students play varsity at other schools. Or you have to have all sports at VHSL, you cannot have a few VHSL sports and allow kids play other VHSL sports at the base school. The solution is not ideal but at least people know why it is set up the way it is.
Everything that I have heard says he did a great job setting up Westfield. He is providing some confidence to families that are opting-in. The leadership seems very solid and focused.
He was not the principal that set up Westfield. Rumgarten? I think. Same one that opened South County. Had been Chantilly principal and took a lot of quality people with him to Westfield. Also, hired very successful football coach from Fairfax. He also brought some assistant coaches with him.
Dale Rumberger was the first principal at Westfield. Jagels was an AP. The South Lakes mom is claiming Jagels (former Centreville principal) was the first principal because she wants to claim Western is going to get the very best administrators, teachers, students, etc. She doesn’t care about getting the facts right.
No, I made a mistake. That happens. I thought he had opened the school. I misheard. Either way, we have been impressed with his handling the school so far.
It really bothers you that people are excited about Western. Why is that? You don't have to send your child this year or next year. After that it will be harder to change schools.
I replied to a DP who said former Centreville principal in saying he was one of the first staff members at Westfield.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:We have been impressed with how he has addressed questions in the meetings we have attended, both in person and virtual. It may not be as robust as Chantilly for example, but they still are great in their own way!
