Most people take 4 years to graduate from college.

What a stupid question. People take longer (or shorter) times to graduate for a variety of reasons. Being redshirted in kindergarten is not one of them.

It typically takes 4 years to complete a bachelor's program at an American university. Some may graduate sooner if they accrued college credits in high school through AP or dual enrollment classes, but it's strange to believe that delaying kindergarten at age 6 will lead to an accelerated path through college 15 years later.

Of course, you can absolutely predict educational outcomes 13 years later. Nothing else alters the outcome

One of mine was not red shirted but had tons of CC credits while in HS plus AP's. He also was a Divsion 1 athlete he graduated in 3.5 years for his BS and then went on to do a Masters in Engineering.

My son is not redshirted but missed the cutoff by 5 days, so he’s usually one of the oldest in the class except for one or two kids that were redshirted.
I expect almost everyone in his class that attends college to go for four years. Some might go for five. I don’t think there is any correlation between birthdate and how fast or slow someone gets through college.

Some go to universities that accept a lot of AP credits coming in and make it easy to graduate early. Others go places where four years is the norm. (I loved my college experience and wouldn’t have wanted to leave early.)

Maybe? Kids take take different amounts of time to complete college for various reasons. Some graduate in under 3 yrs bc they have tons of AP/DE credits that got accepted. Some take 4 yrs bc their college didn’t accept many or any AP credits or they didn’t have any. Some take 5+ yrs bc they switch majors, get sick, have to work and can’t take as many classes per semester.

My redshirted husband took four years but my non redshirted brother who went to kindergarten at 4yrs old took 5 years to graduate college. My mom regretted sending him on time.

My redshirted kid will take 5 years to finish college. The same reason we held her back -- her disabilities -- still impact her years later. It's not a race.
