Is the pain correlated to eating or drinking?

Not to freak you out, but when I had something similar (and thought it was my gallbladder), it ended up being a pulmonary embolism. Pain under my rib (on/off) was my only symptom.

It’s more of a sharp, stabbing pain. Weirdly not nearly as often today.

Is it like a pinching pain?

I am worried this will turn into constant horrible pain. But so far it’s very painful but only in short bursts.

OP here. I just looked that up and that appears to be on the left side. Mine is definitely on the right.

If it is gallbladder whatever you do, DON'T get it removed by the general surgeons at MedStar Montgomery.

Sounds like costochondritis.

It could be your liver. Best to get some blood panels run and chat with your PCP.

Good question. I did take some yesterday morning and don’t remember having the pain until later in the day. But the pain is so sporadic and fleeting that it’s hard to pinpoint what might lead to it. I did have it a number of times last night and had had cheese and crackers at a party, so I wonder if it had to do with fat in the cheese if it is the gallbladder.

Could be gallbladder.

OP back. I meant to say under the bottom rib or a little higher. I’m also having more heartburn than usual.

I get this stabbing pain for maybe five to 10 seconds. It’s under my top rib on the right side so I’m not sure if it’s too high for the gallbladder. The pain stops but this can happen anywhere from just a couple times a day to over 15. It’s been going on for about two months.

I told my primary care doctor about it when I had my physical a month ago. I thought the pain was a little bit higher up at that point so she thought it might be from pulling a muscle while doing strength training. But because it’s so fleeting and continues even though I’ve stopped using my weights, I don’t think it’s that.

I have another appointment with her next week, but just seeing if anyone has ideas about what could be causing this.
