Started “The Correspondent” today. “Theo of Golden” is next. I’m aiming for 84 books this year, double what I read in 2025.

So I'm starting this year with Hanif Kureshi's The Buddha of Suburbia today. If you don't know it, it's the debut of HK, which was made into a TV series in the UK in the 1980s. I am expecting it to be dark, humorous and clever.

What is everyone else reading / planning to read / what is your reading strategy for this fresh, new year?

I'm going to do the same how many do you have to read?

I haven't counted them all yet but I pulled about 10 out of the shelves already and laid them out so I can see them. There's definitely a lot more. How about you?

I'm currently reading My Friends. My goal for this year is to try to read at least 2 books per month.

Come back and tell us what you think of it PP when you're done.

I enjoyed this when I read it about two years ago. The pacing was a bit odd, and plot loose, but the satire of UMC morays and child-rearing was funny (and in its deliberately exaggerated way, spot on).

Just finished The Correspondent yesterday and today stated The Rest of Our Lives, about a guy who drops his daughter off at college in Pittsburgh and on whim just keeps driving west revisiting his past.

I am only 45 minutes into it so far.

My mother used to read books by that author because she found him very amusing. It sounds like this book too, is a funny one.
