Not in the great scheme of things Jewish. No jew even wrote about Jesus except maybe one one time. Christianity took off when it became part of the Roman religion. Either way, its obvious that God wasnt convincing to the Jews enough to make it worthwhile to their lives and future lives. It was a bust for the people it was intended for.

God incarnated because He always meant to incarnate. The fact that He had to redeem original sin while doing so was almost a detour.

The point of incarnating was to grow a relationship with each of us before our free will became fixed in the beatific vision. When He created the Angels, a third of them rejected Him and were irretrievably lost to Heaven. This way, He has space to overcome any rejection we might have to His presence without impinging our free will and turning us, effectively, into very advanced puppets.

Because their scriptures actually said so. Makes sense to me especially because originally God wanted them to have a promised land on earth.

Most of Christianity's reasoning is from the perspective of Christians and Jews and not of God. It makes no sense that God made a covenant with a certain group of people by coming to them through wind and fire and then decided to turn course and become a baby for them only to reach out to other groups of people. Its so obviously two different made up religions by men. There is no rational reason why God would do this or need to do this.

Homilies are often badly written. They're only as good as the person writing them who may or may not understand effective metaphors and persuasive arguments. I've heard some lame analogies at mass.

Catholicism, as a nearly 2000 year-old religion, has grappled with your questions. There are deep and developed theological answers to your questions, and I would encourage you to seek answers there. It is very likely you’ll find those answers in persuasive, but within the greater continuity of Christian thought between the OT and NT, the answers fit and make sense.

Some Jews believe in Jesus as the messiah - messianic Jews. Some Jews believe Jesus was a prophet. Jesus himself was Jewish, and believed in himself.

I believe Judaism borrowed from Egypt and other early religions and has its own flaws but don't understand how Christians can think that Jesus is the messiah and related to the same God as the Jews when he didn't save them or convince them of being God.

Its also insulting I'm sure to Jews that the Romans took over Judea and then took over the Christian religion. Basically the conquerors of the Jews adopted this religion as their own. The complete opposite of what God did for the same people before freeing them from the Egyptians.

The author hypothesized that the reason Moses went up mountains and spoke to a burning bush was because his people were descended from fire/volcano-worshipping tribes from further north. There are indeed such historical peoples. There are places like Baku, Azerbaijan where natural gas vents.

At mass this year (attending to keep my family happy) I heard a homily story that I was told was popular about how God sent his son so that he could speak our language. Something about how animals needed another animal of their kind to understand and follow to do things and that's why Jesus came to us as a baby human.

There are so many thinking flaws with this story and to me they point out one of the reasons why Christianity is flawed. First, people and animals do not always respond to their own kind. In revelation the depiction is much more convincing that a God is present. Not very convincing with a baby. The wisemen and star are convincing but these are not historically accurate or verified. It makes much more sense that people used this story to convince others to be more child-like and convince others that a normal human was God and much less sense that Jesus as a baby had anything to do with humans following him as the Messiah. Second, the jews didnt listen to Jesus for the most part. So even though he came as a human it didnt work for God's chosen people. So God needed to go from being the wind and however else hes mentioned in the old testament to being a human and then he tried his best but the Jews were too stubborn so he turned his attention to others? I'm not following this illogical thinking. It doesnt make sense that God would abandon his people or that God would turn his attention to another group or that God would need a new way of communicating. So God lost his ability to talk to his people like in Exodus but tried with Jesus and failed? Mission failure?

I'd love to hear fron others. Do others have the same confusion from the old testament to the new testament?
